Kirja.fi ('Book') is a webstore for the largest publisher of books in Finland, Werner Söderström Oy. Even with audiobooks gaining in popularity, the physical book can still more than hold its own. The design accordingly highlights the physical nature of books.

The webstore continues from where the Kirja magazine left off. Both the magazine and the webstore were created by Saariaho Järvenpää, whose Designer-in-Chief I am.

The focus is on books with an emphasis on their nature as physical objects.
Category pages offer a scrollable list of the titles therein.
On mid-level pages and the front page, featured categories have their own ribbons.
Promotions and other badges align with the idea of a physical book.
In addition to books, feature posters can also be used.
The same paradigm continues on the desktop designs, although the design is mobile-first.
On the desktop, listing pages take their cue from a bookstore display table.
