Yuligami

Yuligami

In 2015, Finland’s largest department store Stockmann requested another installation design from me. The result was a giant origami installation that filled the airspace of the main entry hall.

The brief was for a Christmas-themed installation that would break with the stale tradition of hanging a giant Christmas tree from the hall’s ceiling. This coincided with the release of Stockmann’s redesigned Christmas wrapping paper, which served as the cue for origami.

Dubbed Yuligami, the installation crowded the hall with a siege of origami cranes showcasing the new wrapping paper. The bespoke crane was designed by Finnish origami artist Sirkka Huttunen, who also held workshops for Stockmann’s customers.
